After burning out last week, I mostly unplugged. Here's what I learned, and why I recommend you try it too.
My problem is that my husband is Israeli, retired (home all day) and plays Israel's Channel 11 on his laptop from breakfast on (I know Hebrew and understand everything). I can escape upstairs to my office, but we have one large downstairs room so I can't avoid hearing the news, and the first hand stories being told each day, usually around breakfast and lunch time. But I should stay away more from the nastiness on social media. I guess I should try the media diet.
I went through a similar process the last few days — and came to similar conclusions. It was reassuring to hear someone else I respect acknowledge that such a diet is okay, and even necessary, for some of us during these very dark days. Be well.
