The other thing about Orwell and ‘the screens’; his authoritarian state did not allow the screens to be turned off. EVEN ORWELL could not imagine a system where the citizens would choose to watch them voluntarily and constantly.
A well-written analysis of the president's (lower case used intentionally) decline. But while you disclaim the authority to diagnose him from afar, you accuse various news sources and commentators of "collective psychosis." I think that is mistaken. They are not psychopaths by any reasonable definition of the term. Instead, they are glory-seeking, willing to sell (for the right amount of money, of course) their soul for the blessings of the goddess of fame. This is no doubt a sort of sociological ill, and we need to understand it in that broader framework. But to return to your opening section, when there's a maniac on the loose, all of us have a heightened level of responsibility, and fixing blame on a few is insufficient.
